Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 22, 2025

This policy describes how Savorini ("we", "us") collects, uses, and discloses personal information about Customers (users who sign up to find and redeem deals) and Partners (businesses and representatives who apply or maintain a partner presence). It applies to our website and related services offered in Canada.

1. Who We Are and Applicable Law

We are responsible for personal information under our control. We collect, use, and disclose personal information in accordance with Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), where it applies, and substantially similar provincial laws where they apply instead of PIPEDA (for example, in Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec). If you are in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector may also apply to our handling of your information.

This policy is part of our commitment to the fair information principles recognized in Canadian privacy law: accountability; identifying purposes; consent; limiting collection; limiting use, disclosure, and retention; accuracy; safeguards; openness; individual access; and the ability to challenge compliance.

2. Information We Collect

Customers — account and profile

When you create a customer account, we may collect:

  • Name and email address
  • Date of birth (for age verification for age-restricted offers)
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Authentication credentials (for example, password, stored using strong hashing—we do not store your password in plain text)

Partners — applications and business contacts

When you apply to become a partner or submit venue or business information, we may collect:

  • Business contact name, email, and phone
  • City, postal code, and optional street address and suburb
  • How you heard about us (optional)
  • Other information you choose to provide in forms or correspondence

If you are onboarded as a Partner, we may collect additional operational and billing information as described in onboarding materials or a separate partner agreement.

Location data

With your permission, we may collect:

  • Precise or approximate location to show nearby deals
  • Location-related usage to improve recommendations

You can disable location services in your device or browser settings; some features may not work without location.

Usage and technical data

We automatically collect information such as:

  • Device type, operating system, browser type, and identifiers
  • App or site usage (features used, interactions, approximate timing)
  • Search queries and filters
  • Deals viewed, saved, or redeemed
  • Reviews and ratings you submit

3. Purposes and Legal Bases

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Create and manage customer and partner accounts
  • Evaluate partner applications and communicate about opportunities
  • Show relevant deals based on preferences and, where allowed, location
  • Send service-related and, where you consent, marketing messages
  • Facilitate deal redemptions and limited sharing with venues as described below
  • Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Meet legal and regulatory obligations

We rely on consent where required (for example, marketing emails or non-essential cookies), and on implied consent or legitimate purposes compatible with reasonable expectations where permitted by law. You may withdraw consent where withdrawal does not prevent us from fulfilling a legal obligation or completing a transaction you requested before withdrawal.

4. When We Share Personal Information

Venues and Partners (Customers)

When you redeem a deal, we may share limited information with the venue or partner (for example, name and redemption time) to verify the offer. That organization handles information according to its own policies and applicable law.

Service providers

We use trusted service providers for hosting, analytics, email delivery, customer support, and similar functions. They may only use personal information as we instruct and for the purposes we disclose.

Legal and safety

We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or a government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.

Business transactions

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to confidentiality and this policy or equivalent protections.

5. Storage, Cross-Border Processing, and Retention

Personal information may be stored and processed in Canada and, where we use international service providers, in other countries. When information is transferred outside Canada, we take steps that are appropriate under applicable law (for example, contractual clauses requiring a comparable level of protection).

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When you delete your customer account, we will delete or anonymize personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data by law.

6. Security

We implement reasonable physical, organizational, and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including measures such as encryption in transit where appropriate, access controls, and security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Privacy Rights (Canada)

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Withdraw consent to certain uses, subject to legal or contractual restrictions
  • Ask how we use and disclose your information and obtain an account of third-party disclosures where required
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) or, where applicable, your provincial privacy commissioner or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI)

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@savorini.com. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the timeframes required by law (often within 30 days under PIPEDA, subject to permitted extensions).

Quebec: Additional rights may apply (for example, transparency, portability in certain cases, and automated decision information). We will honour applicable Quebec requirements.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to remember settings, measure performance, understand usage, and, where you consent, support marketing. You can manage cookies through our cookie tools (where available) and your browser. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

9. Minors

The Service is not directed at individuals below the legal age to purchase alcohol in their province or territory. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone who does not meet that threshold. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Third-Party Sites

The Service may link to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice as required by law (for example, by email or in-app notice).
